Dubai with kids: a parent's five-day plan
Theme parks, the desert and a Burj Khalifa sunset — how to pace Dubai so nobody melts down (including you).
Dubai might be the easiest international family holiday from India: a three-hour flight, vegetarian food everywhere, safe streets and more kid-friendly attractions than you can fit in a week. The trick is pacing — and knowing which experiences are worth the queue.
Stay on the Palm or in Downtown. Palm Jumeirah hotels have big pools and kids' clubs, ideal for downtime between outings; Downtown puts you walking distance from Dubai Mall and the Fountain. Families of four should ask for a two-bedroom suite — often only marginally more than two rooms and much easier with young children.
Day one, keep it light: check in, pool, an evening on the Palm boardwalk. Day two, the city — an abra across the Creek, the souks, then Burj Khalifa At The Top. Book the sunset slot; it costs a little more but you see Dubai in daylight and lit up in one visit.
Day three is for the desert safari. If your children are under six, ask for the gentle desert drive instead of dune bashing — they still get the camel ride, henna, sandboarding and the fire show. Day four can be Abu Dhabi (the Grand Mosque is unforgettable) or a theme park: Ferrari World for speed lovers, IMG Worlds for younger kids on a hot day.
End with a night in the desert at Bab Al Shams. Falconry, a sunset camel trek and dinner under the stars make a calm finale before the flight home. And remember the UAE e-visa: we process it in 3–4 working days, including for children on their own passports.
