Honeymoons
Bali for honeymooners: pool villas, rice terraces and sunsets
Ubud or Seminyak? Why the best Bali honeymoons split their nights — and the experiences couples love most.
Bali gives honeymooners something few places can at this price: a villa with your own private pool. Ask any couple who's come back from Bali, though, and they'll tell you the real magic is in the mix — green jungle mornings in Ubud and golden beach evenings by the sea.
Start in Ubud. Three nights in the hills give you the rice terraces at Tegallalang, the water temple at Tirta Empul, and a quieter, more romantic Bali. Ask for a floating breakfast — a tray of fruit, pastries and Indonesian coffee served in your pool — at least once. It's the photo everyone wants, and it's genuinely fun.
Then move to the coast. Seminyak has the boutiques, beach clubs and sunset spots; Uluwatu has cliffs, wilder beaches and the famous Kecak fire dance at the temple. For most honeymooners we recommend Seminyak for the stay and a sunset evening trip to Uluwatu, ending with a candle-lit seafood dinner on Jimbaran beach.
One day trip worth the early start: Nusa Penida. Kelingking Beach's 'T-Rex' cliff, Angel's Billabong and Broken Beach are breathtaking. If you're not keen on a choppy boat ride, swap it for a Balinese cooking class or a Mount Batur sunrise trek.
Practical bits: Indians get a visa on arrival (or e-VOA) for IDR 500,000 each, plus the new Bali tourist levy of IDR 150,000. April to October is dry season. And since there's no direct flight from most Indian cities, plan for one stop via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur — we time connections so you land in daylight.
